Just some thoughts

So after the first half of making me want to take my entire life and look back on it, and wonder what the hell am I doing here, the pistons thought, hey, why not play basketball like we have actually done it before. And thus outscoring the 76ers by 18 in the 3rd. Which of course brings us back to the question, why would they do this. Do they get bored, do they not cared, do they think they are so good they can pick and choose when to play well, or do deep down they hate flip so much and want him fired, they think, hey lets just throw it this year, so joey d can get someone who can coach defense, and would not let the more talented team by far lose 2 of 4 games. Nothing bad about phili they are a good young talented team, very athletic, very hungry and they are playing well, but the pistons are the better team, if you don't know that, I can't help you. All I hope is they get their heads out of their asses long enough to win these next two games and win in 6. In other series I am really happy the mavs are down 3-1 and about to lose to the horents, I did pick the mavs to win, but that is only because I thought between them loosing last year, and NO being young and having basically no playoff experience, they could at least win one series.. nope. The suns won game 4, I don't know why, just to lose game 5 in san antone, why bother, just get swept and go home and play some golf, maybe next year boys. Nash can't guard Tony Parker, and I guess either can bell or anyone else on the suns team.. I must give a shout out to coach d. for getting throw out of a game that he was up 24 points at the time, nice work. I don't see either one of those teams winning game 5 on the road.. Nor do I see the raptors or wiz winning on the road, the raptors I give the most chance out of the 4. The Celtics will win tonight and then finish the series in 5 as well. The rockets are done as well, and the nuggets, well, it has been over for a long time... At least pretend to play defense.
The NFL draft was of course this weekend and I enjoyed it. I only got 8 picks right in the first round, but that was still good enough to beat my friends, and thus give me the number one pick for our fantasy football keeper draft... I think I will go against what I would have done for the last oh 7 or 8 years, and I will take all day AP first instead of LDT.. but we have a long way to go till then, so maybe I will change my mind, but I don't think so. I was happy with my giants draft, I love Phillips, because, well he is a safety from the U, so of course he is good, and then cb Thomas from usc is good, we then also drafted two LB, much needed, so hopefully they will be able to help, and Mario is very talented, and only droped to the third round cause he admitted he smokes weed, but toomer is old, so why not get a new Michigan wide out to replace an old one, and plex isn't that young either, so having smith, moss and super Mario, plus of course sb hero david Tyree, that isn't too bad.. Woodsen was a odd pick to me, we just signed david carr, so we have two number one overall at qb, and what, we will get rid of fat fuck ex ken qb, and add another ex ken qb with a odd throwing motion. I like the guy, I just was not expecting a qb. KC's draft has a lot of people have been talking about was very good. I also liked wash, which scares me, they got some great players in the second round, and they should be solid next year. The cowboys also drafted Jenkins basically to stop the giants, and other teams too, when they spread them out with 3 or 4 wide outs.. All in all it was two great days of the NFL, and of course the only day where all 4 major sports have something going on, a draft, nba and nhl playoffs, and mlb reg. season.. great sports weekend
Also this weekend I saw forgetting Sarah Marshall, I have not seen Harold and kumar yet, but will sometime this week, anyway, I was impressed. I thought it was going to be ok, maybe laugh a few times, but it was really really good. I really liked it, thought it was very funny, and I will be buying it for sure when it comes out. Other then that, I need the tigers to continue to play better, they have some tough series coming up with the yanks and sox, the pistons need to stop messing around and making my heart rate go up, and then I will be fine.. I also want to quick throw out a personal good luck to the guys I know from cmu that signed free agent deals after the draft, I wish them all good luck, and hope they can work hard and maybe make a team, or at least a practice squad. I am looking forward to another good week of sports, got to love spring. I'm right, you're wrong

playoffs and general stuff

after two games on the NBA playoffs there has been some things that have surprised me, some things I knew would happen, and somethings that I am glad happened. So far t mac is making me look smart and saying all the way back during the 22 game win streak that they still will not make it out of the 1st round. I must say, his rant saying, sorry, it is my fault, and then listing all these things were funny, and he doesn't have much, or any, help around him, but still, he will never make it out of the first round, sorry. The jazz will go home and wrap that up in 4. The suns have played well, but still find them selves down 0-2 to the champs, they need game 3, I still think they can come back and make this a series, though I would change my pick, spurs in 7. The hawks are done, the raptors can still make it a series. The 76ers got their one game, it just happened in game one, instead of 3. The pistons showed what happens when they play the entire game. The wiz like I said, made a big mistake, they talked trash and got lebron mad.. They could still make it close, but they need to win game 3 to have any chance. The hornets have surprised me, I know cp3 is sweet, and sick, and all those things, but I expected the mavs to show a little more, maybe they can go home and make it a series, but it is kind of funny that they only guy on their team that had a chance of staying in front of cp3, Devin Harris, was traded for a hall of famer, way way way past his prime. I did not like the trade at the time, and now, it looks even worse. Jason Kidd is great, but his time has past, he has no chance of stopping cp3. There only hope is they play a lot better at home, and maybe, just maybe make a series out of it. Other then that, the NFL draft in coming in two short days, can't wait. With Jake Long going one, it all comes down to the rams, I think, if the rams take dorsey, then atl will take ryan, oak will take McFadden, kc will be really happy and take c long, and so on.. however, if they take chirs long at two, atl will take dorsey at 3, mcfadden will still go 4, kc will try to trade down, maybe to 8, and the ravens can take ryan at 5, and then kc can take albert at 8. On other things, the tigers just won again, 8-2 and finished their sweep of the rangers, btw, man the rangers suck, I feel bad for any texas ranger fan, if there are any. I mean they were up 5-0 after they batted in the 2nd, and lose 19-6, sweet. Granderson is back and the tigers are starting to roll, 8 wins in their last 11, like I said, they will be fine. Other then that, not a big hockey guy, and I don't like the wings, but wings-avs is always fun to watch, and on another note, I don't know if there is anything better in sports then OT in game 7 of the hockey playoffs.. If only people knew where the games were on and watched them. Other then that.. just can't wait for the draft on Saturday. I'm right, you're wrong

NFL Mock draft

I love the NFL draft, always have, always will, one thing that is fun about it, of course is the build up, who is rising, who is falling, did Mel Kiper's hair move at all this past year, just a lot of fun, so why not have a mock draft. I love the draft so much, I have choose to do two, one, with no trades, and two, some trades, the fun one.. The actually draft, I am sure will be a mix of the two, with a trade or two, but not as many as my trade mock draft... here we go.. straight up one first....

Can't wait for Saturday, should be fun. I'm right, you're wrong

one game, it's ok

after the first game of the nba playoffs, a few things come to mind, first, I am upset about my pistons giving up a 15 point lead and loosing at home and giving a team who is younger and more athletic experience, however, for this team, maybe it will be good that this happened, and in game one no less, big time wake up call, they can't coast, teams will play hard and they will have to do the same. They should have known that already, but hopefully this will end all cockiness that they have and they will win either 4 in a row, or win the series in 6. Not worried about them, just a little upset. I am also once again mad about the nba and how much they love tv and sell out, tonight there should be games 2 in the follow series, cavs-wiz, spurs-suns, jazz-rockets, and NO-mavs.. instead, cavs-wiz is the only game we have tonight, and I think it is on NBA TV. That is the one thing the NBA has done that I can't stand is how long they make the series, game 1 will be sunday, game 2, Wednesday, games 3, friday, and then game 4 will not be until Tuesday or something, that is just stupid.. Anyway, I am pumped this week for the NFL draft. I love the draft, and this year will be back to normal, last year I missed it cause I was coaching in an AAU tournament. I am still coaching AAU, but we have a weekend off, thank god.. Cause my team needs some work, so we can get some wins. So I get to watch the draft, lay around, have a daddy pop or two, maybe play a little beer pong, or baseball, the best drinking game ever, if you have never played, sorry, you are missing out, so that makes me happy.... My next post, either later today or tomorrow, will be my mock draft. I hope everyone has a great week, and remember, I'm right, you're wrong

western conference playoff picks

We did the east yesterday and now that the season is over and the west is set time to do the west

1) Lakers vs 8) Nuggets- Denver can score, and that is about it, I give them no chance of winning this series you have to be able to at least try to play a little defense in the playoffs, and they don't even do that, Lakers in 5
2) NO vs 7) Mavs- As much as I love cp3 and don't like the mavs, I don't think the hornets are ready for a playoff push, and the mavs are more built for the playoffs now anyway, NO was a great story this year but I do not see them making a playoff run, Mavs in 6
3) Spurs vs 6) Suns- wow, give me a second, this should be great, the suns got shaq basically just for this series and it happens in the first round. The suns have played well against the spurs this year, but the spurs know what is really important and that is the playoffs, and they are the champs until someone beats them. I see this going one of two ways, the spurs just are a little too old and a little too slow and they pass the torch to the suns, or the suns put so much in to trying to beat them, they force and don't play well and the spurs show they are still the team to beat, just cause I love shaq and always have, I will say he will find a way to be the difference making one more time, and the suns will win in 7
4) Jazz vs 5) Rockets- even though the 5 seed has home court, that 5 seed is the rockets, who can not make it out of the first round cause they are lead by t mac. I said during their streak it was great, but they still will not make it out of the first round, and now I really believe that, the jazz don't lose at home, they still one on the road, and win in 6. They have a better pg, a better pf, better role players, and a smarter coach, and can play a few different styles. Jazz in 6
1) Lakers vs 4) Jazz- I want to take the Jazz here, I really do, but I just like the way the lakers are playing right now, and kobe is the best player in the NBA, so Lakers in 7
6) Suns vs 7) Mavs- I don't like the mavs enough to pick them twice, and I think the suns will be so jacked up on beating the spurs they will have enough to beat a mavs team who is starting to play better. Suns get in done in 7
1) Lakers vs 6) Suns- Man would the NBA love this series from a marketing standpoint. Oh yeah kobe vs shaq, winning to the nba finials, that would be a ratings dream. As much as I love shaq, kobe is the better player, now, has the better overall team, and the coach who has won more titles then anyone else besides red, who he is tied with. That gives the Lakers the edge to me, plus home court, the Lakers win in 7

In the NBA finals the well rested pistons beat the tired lakers in 6. Ta ta's length can be a problem for Kobe, and when he has to cover rip on defense rip makes him work by running through so many screens, it can tire him out. The pistons beat the lakers in 04 when they had 4 future hall of famers, they can beat them in 08 when they have one, and some roll players.. Should be a wonderful playoff run, and I am really looking forward to it.. I'm right, you're wrong

eastern conference playoff picks

since the west is not finial until the games get done tonight, I will do the east first, and the west tomorrow...

1) Celtics vs 8) Hawks- as much as I would love for the young athletic hawks to win this series, they are good for one game tops, more likely a Boston sweep.. but I will give them one, and say Celtics in 5
2) Pistons vs 7) 76ers- the 76ers are playing well right now, and being a pistons fan that has me a little worried, I would have much rather been playing the raptors, but there is still no chance the pistons lose more then two games in this series, and I will say they will only lose one. They have rested their starters and there bench has improved, and the starters will be well rested, plus they have a chip on their shoulder, Pistons in 5
3) Magic vs 6) Raptors- the raptors could win this series, they really could, and I think it will be a good one, however, I think Dwight Howard and Rashad Lewis will be able to get the job done and win in 6
4) lebrons vs Wash- Man I would love to pick the wizards I really would, but then they started running their months and talking.. great get lebron mad. I still think the cavs made a bad move trading 4 players and I think it will come back to hunt them, but not yet.. cavs in 7
1) Celtics vs lebrons-lebron will run in to a great team defense that will force other people to beat them, if wally and Gibson don't hit their wide open looks the cavs have no chance, I will give them one good game of being on, and lebron is good for a game, Celtics in 6
2) pistons vs 3) magic- I can not tell you how happy I am the magic is the 3 seed and the cavs are the 4. I am not even worried about this series even a little, the pistons have played very well against the magic the last few years, cause they make Dwight beat them from the line, which he can't do, the Pistons will win in 5
1) Celtics vs 2) Pistons- the series we all want to see. Being a piston fan of course I am going with them, but I really think they are the better totally team and can beat the Celtics 4 out of 7 times. They have the experience and they have been together for a while, it is their time, their bench has continued to improve and I think not having home court will not hurt them at all, I see them winning game 1, 3,4, and 6, and winning the series in 6 to go to the nba finals.

Who ever they play I give them a edge just because of having a easier road, getting more rest and really people might forget, they are a good team, they swept the suns, the spurs, nuggets, and NO, and spilt with LA, rockets, and mavs, and did get swept by the jazz.. the jazz is the only team that the pistons can't beat, cause memo always goes, you shouldn't have let me go in the 4th, but in a 7 game series I think they could beat the jazz too. Tomorrow I will do the west as the seeds get to be finial. It should be a great playoff run, and I am looking forward to it.. I am also looking forward to the NFl draft witch is fast approaching I will have a mock draft up sometime before the draft, but right now I am still in NBA mode... I'm right, you're wrong

Love winning or hate loosing

They talked about this a little on mike and mike the other day and it got me thinking how I am. In sports in my life I have had 3 different titles, player, coach, and fan. As a fan I absolutely love winning more then I hate loosing. Being born in New Jersey I am a livelong giant fan, when they won the super bowl I was so happy, when they loose in the playoffs, or don't even make it, I am a little upset, but I regroup and get ready for next year, as soon as the season is over, you think next year will be different, it could be our year. We will draft someone good, sign a great free agent and get back to the playoffs. As a player I hated to loose. I love winning and would enjoy it when it happened, but when we lost I took it bad, still the last time I cried was my last lacrosse game in high school when we lost 10-8 in the state finials, both of my grandfathers have died since then btw.. As a coach I am the same way, I am an assistant varsity boys basketball coach and also a head coach in AAU. When we win, I am happy, I enjoy it, but when we lose and I am miserable. I go over the game in my head for the next couple of days, things I could have done differently, and things I wish I hadn't done. I have trouble sleeping, as I lay awake wondering what I could have done, did I cost my team the game. Never once have I thought that as I fan. I think that is why being a fan is so great, you can also be the glass is half full, always looking up.. we have a bad year, that means we have a higher draft pick. I wonder if I can ever get that way as a coach. We lost but we played hard and the kids had fun, we will get better and win next time, instead of, I can't believe we did that, god that was stupid, should have used a timeout there, or called a different set play there, or changed the play I called at the end.. it will drive you crazy.. thanks, just needed to get that off my chest.. I'm right, you're wrong

west is best?

The entire year all I have heard was how great the west is compared to the east in the NBA, now I must first say, I agree that top to bottom overall the west is better, however if you look at the top teams, the top teams in the east are better then the top teams in the west.. For example, the two top teams in the east, Boston and my pistons are 25-5 and 21-8 respectfully against the west, and the pistons still play the minn, so unless they don't care at all, it will be 22-8, while the top two seeds in the west, right now NO and the lakers are 22-8 and 20-10. But lets look at those numbers closer, cause numbers can, and often do lie.. the pistons are 11-5 vs western conference playoff teams, and the Celtics are 12-4. However NO is 9-7 vs eastern conference playoffs teams and the lakers are 8-7. Does this mean anything, time will tell, but I think people assuming any team that comes out of the west will walk over the east winning will be wrong, I think either of those top two east teams could easily win the title.. now that doesn't mean that they well, but I think they have a much better chance then all but maybe 6 of the teams in the west.. The spurs because experience and the lakers cause of kobe, and how well he is playing with gasol and odem. The bottom of the west is also really bad.. the worse team in the nba is the heat, but then the 2, 3, and 4th are all in the west, and right now the 5th worse would be a tie between the clippers and the knicks. Now the clippers have an excuse they have been hit with a lot of injuries, the knicks, well we know how messed up they are. Now if they changed the playoffs and just let the top 16 in regardless of conference, the west would have 9 and the east would have 6, with the blazers and the raptors right now both tied for that 16th spot at 39-39. and with the raptors having the nets tonight, then the pistons bench, the heat and the bulls, they could easily win all 4 of those games, while the blazers have the kings, mavs, grizz, and the suns, so 2-2 would be good for them, the east would have 7 to the west's 9.. so it really isn't as big a differences as I think some people want you to think.. The numbers for the west are better against the east overall.. as we look at them:
wc playoff teams
1. NO vs east: 22-8
2. LA vs east:20-10
3. SA vs east: 23-7
4. Jazz vs east: 21-9
5. Rockets vs east: 22-8
6. Suns vs east: 24-6
7. Mavs vs east: 18-12
8. Denver ( as of now) vs east: 19-11
ec playoff teams
1. Boston vs west: 25-5
2. Pistons vs west: 21-8
3. Magic vs west: 14-15
4. Cavs vs west: 17-13
5. Wash vs west: 14-16
6. 76ers vs west: 15-15
7. Raptors vs west: 12-18
8. Hawks ( as of now) vs west: 13-17

so overall yes the west is best... but it is a lot closer then you think.. and with the east teams having a easier time, I think the winner of the east will win the nba finials... I'm right, you're wrong

the first

I have been thinking about starting a blog for awhile, and after reading some of my sports board buddies dk and mook's I have picked today as the day.. and what a good day to start, we have masters, baseball, nfl draft prep, the nba playoffs getting very close, and someone told me the nhl playoffs is going on, but I can not confirm that for sure.
I will first talk about baseball real quick, being a tigers fan it is safe to say the year has not gotten off to a great start, being 1-8 is tough, especially when you have the 3rd highest pay roll, only one thing gets me threw, the fact that there is 153 games left.. and I relax, things will be fine, granderson will get back, sheff and manny jr, cabera, will get to 100%, poly and pudge's little injuries with backs and wrist will go away, and they will be fine.. the bullpen is something to worry about, until rodney and joel get back, but as long as our offense gets going you liked to think getting 6, like last night in a lost at Boston, or so runs a game should be enough to win most games.
The NFL draft is one of my favorite days of the year, this year is different for a couple reasons, my giants just won the super bowl and are picking last in the 1st round, so I have awhile to wait... but I want to do well on my draft picks since it will determine the draft order of my fantasy football keeper draft with my friends.. so I have started looking at it, and I will continue to do more of it as we move on, but a few things I just think will happen
1) the raiders need to trade down- I don't know if they will, but they should, they have a lot of holes, and lets say, you take mcfadden at 4, that is a whole lot of money in your backfield to guys who have not done anything yet in the nfl. Could he become a great rb, well maybe, but skip bayless is convinced he will, so that almost makes me think he will flop, and I am not sure about jamarcus especially if it turns out he is overweight. I see Dallas throwing 22 and 28 at them, and maybe a 3rd and 5th, to get up to 4 to take mcfadden
2) the saints should trade with the pats, without looking, I think that is only 7 to 10, but that would let the saints get the pass rusher they want, Ellis, I think, and then the pats could still get the cb they want, and pick up another pick
3) The giants now have a window of two years where I will not freak out and be mad at who they picked, but I would love if Dan Conner, the lb from psu, is there the giants pick him up
4) draft day baby.... sports night shout out.. I miss that show

The NBA playoffs should be great, my pistons have the two seed l0cked up, and have for awhile, and the cavs are doing us a big favor being the 4 seed instead of the 3.. I can not put in to words how much I would rather play the magic in rd 2 then the lebrons.. We are looking at a Boston-d-town ecf which I give the pistons in 6 games for a few reason:
1) no matter how bad a coach flip might be, I still think doc is worse.. just look at the sports guy who is a fan, and how much he rips him..also my favorite doc moment, last year pistons down 1 to the Celtics with 2.5 to go, doc chooses to not only not cover the in bounder, but to leave his man by the basket, rip then comes off a double screen, which becomes a triple screen, with the other Boston defender getting in the way, for a easy curl and a wide open game winning shot.. I just feel if the game is close, doc will not know what to do
2) pg battle, yeah rondo is young and getting better, and sam I am, looks like et, and won 2 titles.. which might be the most misused stat ever, he won his 1st 2 years when he was a backup pg, he was not the main player or anything, anyway.. billups will post up both of them if we need him to, plus in the playoffs he will find a way to keep rondo out of the paint
3) expereince- just like in the pg spot, every other spot the pistons have it to, kg, jesus shuttlesworth, pp, have never won anything, they have not been there, the pistons have, to a fault where they get bored and take things for granted sometimes, which I don't like, but w/e.. This year I don't think that will happen, because not a lot of people are talking about them, it is all Boston and how good the west is, lebron, and how good the west is.. that works great for the pistons, I see them winning games 1, 3, 4, and then 6 to win the series, and go on to the finials to play.........
who the heck knows when the seeds are finally I will do my predictions, right now I would say either the spurs or lakers, but all the teams have things about them I don't like.. which reminds me, my next post will be comparing the sec conference in football to the western conference in the nba, but I want to do a little research on it first, and look at some stats

again thanks to mook and dk my blog inspirations....... I would love to hear what people think, just remember, I'm right, and your wrong
