NFL week 9 picks

Yes my friends it is that time again, Thursday. Time for my weekly NFL picks. After a great week last week of 10-4 I am now 72-45 on the year, which isn't too bad. So here we go, with my picks for week 9.

Byes: Car, NO, SF, SD

Arz at Stl- I like the Cards in this game, the rams have been playing better, but the Cards are not a bad team, and with Bolden back, I except them to play even better, they are winning that division. Cards win 31-21

Atl at Oak- I will admit in my preseason picks this is a game that I gave to the Raiders, well, no more. I have been surprised with how well the Falcons have played, and I like them to go on the road and win this game. ATL 24-10

Det at Chi- The fun continues for the Lions. And the bad part about it, since it isn't at home, it will not be blackout, and I will have to watch it, damn. It was so nice last week not having to watch them. Anyway, the Bears D will shout them down, and win 24-7

Dal at NYG- This is a big game. But with out Homo, Whitten might not play because of broken ribs, plus Flex Jones still out, plus Newman, and all their other problems, plus the fact that it is at home, this is MUST win for the Giants. I was happy how well they played last week, but lets hope they have some left. I think they do. my G-men win 28-14

GB at Ten- This is another game in my preseason picks I had the Packers wining. One I didn't think the Titans would be this good, and I thought the Packers would still be a little better then they are. Add both of those things, and I am going with the Titans to continue their undefeated season for at least another week. Titans win 24-14

Hou at Min- I like the Texans to win this game. I like them, and I have a nice size man crush on Andre Johnson and I hope he has 100+ yards and at least a td. Texans win 28-21

Phi at Sea- The fact that it is at Seattle would usually be a reason to pick them, but this year, they are bad. Phili wins 31-14

TB at KC- This is going to be a Bucks win, enough said. TB 28-10

Pitt at Was- This is another big game this week. The Steelers are 5-0 vs the AFC and 0-2 vs the NFC East, will that continue. On the road, I think it will, the Skins have to win to keep pace, and they will. Skins win 17-14

Bal at Cle- This game is at the Browns and they need a win to continue their momentum. The Ravens have been playing well, but they still do start a rookie qb, I like the Browns in this one, 24-14

NYJ at Buf- Buffalo coming off a bad division loss, they need a division win. The Jets have played bad the last 3 weeks, and still managed to win two of those games, since they have played such bad teams, their luck runs out. Bills win 28-17

Jags at Cin- another loss for the Bengals, really again, all I need to say, and I again I will say, the Lions and Bengals need to play, and the winner gets the first pic. Jags 31-10

Mia at Den- Nice win for Mia last week, but now they go to Denver, I don't like their chances, and with Denver coming off the bye they will be ready to go. Denver wins 31-21

NE at Ind- Usually this is the biggest game of the year, not just the week, this year, it is only big because this may be the Colts last chance, if they loss this game, their playoff hopes are done, and their season is over. I think at home, they will find a way to get the job done. Colts win 28-24

Well there you have it. my pistons are 1-0, after beating the Pacers last night, I hear baseball is now over, I really didn't see one pitch of the world series, I just didn't care, but congrats to long time phili sports fans, it's been 25 years, but you have another title now, so good for you. College basketball is quickly coming. We have our rose rowdie training/fright night event at CMU tonight, which I have to talk at, and then next Saturday our first game, being it exhibition but still, so the NBA is up and running, college and pro football is in full swing, this is one of my favorite times of the year. I'm right, you're wrong.

NFL week 8 wrap up

It was a good week, adding the Texans win over cinci I went 10-4. With one of those losses being the Giants game, where I wanted them to win, and just didn't want to be a homer, road game, against a good team, and it was a good game, and I am glad my g men pulled it off. That brings my year record to 72-45. Which isn't too bad. Here are just a few things that stand out from this week:

-The Colts are seriously in trouble now

-The Jags are seriously in trouble now

-The Chargers can not afford many more losses

-The Titans are really that good

-Yeah for me, picking the dolphins win over the Bills

-The Bengals and Lions should be forced to play this year, so we know who is the worst team of all time, minus expansion teams. The winning gets the 1st pick, that way they would actually try.

That's all for now.. I am just happy the NBA season starts tonight, so more later. I'm right, you're wrong

week 9 college football wrap up

The conference season is in full swing and we are starting to separate a few of the pretenders and contenders. Here are ten things, or games, that jumped out to me on Saturday, feel free to add some I didn't mention.

10) Navy-SMU- Navy wins 34-7, why would I add this to my top ten. Because Navy did not attempt one pass the entire game. They ran the ball 77 times for 404 yards and won 34-7. That is great. One of their rb ran it 42 times for 224. 9 different people ran the ball at least once, and of those 9, 6 had at least 16 yards or more. It was the first major college team in 11 years to not attempt a pass. To make things funnier, SMU's coach is June Jones, mr pass happy himself, they were averaging over 300 yards a game, and was 11th in the nation in passing, they managed only 157, 27 in the second half, and they ran the ball 11 times for -13 yards. Yeah one team ran for 404, the other for -13, not hard to figure out who won the game, especially because it was rainy and bad weather. Oh and Navy was using their 3rd sting qb, and the rb who had 224 was their backup.

9) Bama- Tenn- The problems continue for Tenn, and Bama keeps rolling. They still have a lot of work to do, and there is no question this year's big question will be, should a one loss big 12 or sec team play in the title game over a undefeated psu from the big ten. All those sec and big 12 teams should have been cheering for osu Saturday, now that it didn't happen, or they going to fall off, because there is no question both bama and texas have a much harder road left.

8) Fl-Ken- 63-5, my god, in a conference game. I guess someone wanted to show UGA they are ready for them, that will be a great game next week, and loser is done, winner still has a bcs chance. Should be a fun one.

7) OK-K State- 58 points OK scored, I guess their offense is still fine too thanks, and 55 of those were in the 1st half. They need some help to get in the big 12 title game, but they are not done yet. They are still in the race, no question.

6) UGA-LSU- UGA wins 52-38 at LSU. Wow, putting up 52 points on the road at LSU, that is a very impressive win. I guess they are ready for the Gators next week too, that is going to be a great game. I can not wait. God I love college football.

5) USC-Zona- 17-10 USC win, For what ever reason Zona always plays them close. Of course when you are the dominate team in the conference you are always going to get every other teams best shot, and that has been the down fall for USC over the last couple of years. There is no question they are by far the best football team in that conference, and you see it during bowl games, and other big games that their is hype around, but every road conference game seems to be close for them, and even some on at home. They still haven't bought in to playing how they can play all the time.

4) Texas Tech-Kansas- Well I guess Tech's offense is ready for Texas. Putting up 63 on the road to another top 25 team, Kansas may be a little overrated but still, that was a impressive game. Even more so, the game was tied at 14, before Tech scored 21 in the second and third, and Kansas scored none, with each added a td in the 4th. Tech and Texas should be another great game Saturday

3) Texas-OK State- I think Ok State might actually be for real. 28-24 loss to Texas, that was a very good football game, between two really good football teams. Now Texas has to play Tech on Saturday, and then I think they will walk to the big 12 title game. The Big 12 actually has to be in the conversation about best conference, the SEC isn't so great, the big 12 is right there. I mean Vandy lost to Duke, Auburn lost to WVU, and is really struggling, Tenn is really bad, Ken is bad, I mean sure FL, UGA, Bama, and maybe even LSU are good, but the big 12, texas, ok, ok state, tech, and mizzu are all good teams, with great offenses. It actually would be fun if college football was like college basketball and they had conference vs conference challenged games, cause a big 12/sec challenged right now, would be great to watch.

2) MSU-Uofm- Sure Uofm is really bad this year, and has only two wins, and lost 4 games already at home. But winning in the big house is a big deal for Michigan State and that was a great win. It was also actually a very good game, back and forth, up and down, just a great college football game to watch. Maybe a lot of people outside the state of Michigan don't care, but to me, that was a fun game to watch. Being a Central grad they come first, but I do cheer for MSU when it comes to those two, so their first win in the big house since 1990 was a great thing.

1) CMU-Toledo- Road conference wins are tough, so you take them when you can get them. So even a 24-23 win at the Glass bowl I am happy about. We didn't play very well, and it is clear Dan is not 100%, which is why Brain should start against IU on Saturday because it doesn't matter whether we win or lose this game, we care about winning the MAC, and to do that, we need as many guys healthy as we can get. With so many injuries right now, we should use the week to rest up, and then we need to beat NIU on the road, to set up a HUGE game at k/s on Nov 19 on espn2, a game that will be for the MAC west title, and the winner should have no problem in the MAC title game at Ford Field. Ball State is a good football team and they have been beating up on people. But we are the back to back champs, and we are the champ until someone beats us, and so far, no one in the MAC has. D.O.T.... defend our title. I'm right, you're wrong.

NFL week 8 picks

Here we are, week 8 of the NFL season. It's Thursday and time for my week predictions.

Byes: Cin, Den, Hou, Chi, GB, Min

Arz at Car- I like this to be a shoot out, with the home team winning. The Panters are playing very well right now. Panthers 31-27

Atl at Phi- The Engals needs this, and word is Westbook will play. That is enough for them to get the win over the surprising Falcons. Phili wins 21-17

TB at Dal- Dallas needs a win, and even though they do not have Tony Homo for this game, I think they will find a way, they know they go to New York next week, and can not lose both of these games and go to 4-5, they find a way to win. cowboys 24-14

Was at Det- Do I even need to say anything. Skins win 28-10

SD at NO (in London)- The Saints play a home game in London, without Reggie Bush. I really liked both of these teams going in to the year, in fact I had the Saints in the super bowl, but this was one game I had them loosing anyway, and I still think that will be true. SD super chargers 31-21

NYG at Pit- I am a big Giants fan, but even in my preseason picks I had them loosing to the Steelers on the road, of course I also had them loosing to the Browns on the road, well I changed my mind then, I learned my lesson. Sadly the steelers win 24-21

Stl at NE- The rams are playing a lot better, but the Pats looked like themselves last week. I like the Pats to continue to do that, and the rams to come back down to earth a bit. NE wins 31-21

Sea at SF- In a game where the only real losers are the fans who have to sit through this, I think if the seahawks have any chance of turning their season around it has to be now. And the 49ers have a new coach, now if Mike was playing LB for them, I would pick the 49ers, but since he isn't, for one last week, I will stick with the seahawks to win a ugly football game 17-14

Oak at Bal- The ravens will win this game, that is really all I want to say about this one. Ravens 21-10

Buf at Mia- In my preseason picks I had the Dolphins winning this, and you know something... I am making this my upset pick of the week. I am saying at home, the phins are going to get the job done. Mia wins 24-17

Cle at Jag- Jags need to keep wining for me, and my playoff picks for them. I like them in this game, there has been some off field problems in Cleveland with the KW JR thing, and I like the Jags to win coming off their bye week 28-17

Ind at Ten- Yeah it is time. Good indy, then bad indy, then good indy, then bad indy... it's time again for good indy. I like their offense to come alive and beat the Titans at home and give them their first loss. The Titans are a good team, and will be able to fun the ball against the Colts but I like the Colts offense to actually look like themselves again, like they did against the Ravens, and Colts win 31-27

Kc at NYJ- well last week I wrote if the Jets lost to the Raiders the NFL officially makes no sense, well that happened, but I will stick with it, with no Larry Johnson, if KC beats the Jets, the league officially really makes no sense, and all Brett Farve lovers should jump off the band wagon now.

I had a tough week last week, going 7-7, so hopefully this week will be better. I'm right, you're wrong

NBA Preseason picks and preview

Basketball is back, and I am very very excited. The NBA is second only to college basketball in sports that I love to watch, follow, and talk about. So now, since we are less then a week away from the first game, I will now do my NBA playoff picks, and really each division pick. So to keep it easier to look at, my playoff picks will be first, and then you can keep reading if you want more of my thoghts on each team in the leauge.

Finals:
Pistons over Horents in 6. Finals MVP: C Billups

NBA MVP: CP3
ROY: OJ Mayo
All Star MVP: Lebron

Now that we have that done, lets look at it deeper. Number one, yes I am a hoomer, and picked the Pistons because of it, and I would actually be surpised if they won it all, however, I do think they will be the number one seed in the east, and here is why:
1) They will actually play hard for a few months
2) They want to show why they didn't like Flip- even though he was a good coach
3) People are writing them off, and they can surpise people
Looking at that divsion first.
Central :

1) Pistons- Like I just said, they will play hard and have the best record in the east
2) Cavs- They have Lebron, that's enough
3) Bucks- They are my sleeper team in the east this year, I like them, I like Redd and Bogut and I like Charlie Villanueva more then most, if not everyone, coming off the bench for them, he will be a good scorer, I always like their rookies, both Alexander and Luc Richard adds nice things to that team. Damon Jones adds another shoter, and I like Ridnour and T Lue as nice pieces to that team who can score, but can also run a team, plus you got Jefferson, so I like the Bucks as my sleeper, and I wanted to put them as my 8 seed, but at the last minute I changed my mind
4) Bulls- they will be better then last year, and D Rose will help, but I think they needed to do something with Gordon or Hinrich and they didn't, and that will cause problems
5) Pacers- This team is great for one thing... fantasy, Granger MD jr, are great picks, just as a team, they will not do anything.

Atlantic:

1) Celtics- They still have a lot of talent, I think the loss of Posey will hurt them in the playoffs
2) 76ers- They are the sexy pick this year, and they should be good. But lets see how they handle being favored to actually win a lot of games. Brand is of course a big help, and A.I. 2.0 is sick, so they should get back to the playoffs, but some teams can't handle sucess, so stay tuned.
3) Raptors- With J O'Neal coming over to help Bosh up front, they have potentionally one of the best, if not the best front courts, as far as scoring in the east. That alone will be enough to get them back in the playoffs
4) Nets- They will not be good. They have some nice young pices, but they are in rebuilding mode. I like Harris and the Mavs were stupid to trade him, but they have some work to be done
5) Knicks- It will take a lot more then a new coach for them to be good. Mike is going to have a tough year coaching this team. But the good news for Knick fans I think they finially get some cap space back in 2011.

Southeast:

1) Heat- Yes you heard it here first, well I don't know that, cause I haven't read any other NBA picks yet, the Heat will win the division and be the 4 seed in the playoffs, of course this all has to do on one thing. If D Wade doesn't get hurt. With him, the Matrix, and Beasley they will have enough to win that divsion.
2) Magic- they will still be good, and will be the 5 seed in the playoffs
3)Hawks- I like them to get back in the playoffs and once again be the 8th seed. I Like Joe Johnson and Horford, plus an entire year with Bibby as the pg will make him a lot more comfrontable there. And then the most important thing is they kept Josh Smith, who is the man, I mean he is sick, I have a very big man crush on him, in fact, in my all NBA favorite players not on the pistons team, Josh Smith is right there, along with Rudy Gay, CP3, Adam Morrison, just cause I loved him ever since college, and then of course my old classmate at CMU my boy CK.
4) Wizards- Injuries worry me about this team and as much as I like them when they are at 100% they are not close, who knows how long hibachi will be out, and Butler and Jaminson are good, and I like N Young, but I see a lot of the teams in the east getting better, and right now, they are not. So I have them just missing the playoffs, which may come back to haunt me, but we will see.
5) Bobcats- are bad, they have a lot of work to do, and because they are so bad, the other teams in this divison will have better records, which is why I think 3 of them will make the playoffs.

West:

Pacific:
1) Lakers- as long as Kobe doesn't get hurt they will have the best record in the west
2) Suns- They have something to prove with a new coach, there is still lots of talent there, but thier window is closing
3) Clippers- my sleeper in the west. Maybe it is just because Kaman plays for them, and he is a friend of mine, but I like that team, and with B diddy, and Camby to go along with Al Thorton, and CK, plus the rookie Eric Gordon, I think they will be able to score, plus the shooting of Tim Thomas. Really the quesion will be, can they stop anyone?
4) GS- They are another team who should be able to score like always, the problem, can they stop anyone, the truth is, I don't think so, which is why both the clippers and GS will both be out of the playoffs
5) Kings- They will be beaten up on by the rest of this division.

Northwest:
1) Jazz- I think this is the one divsion that you could give the Jazz the title already. I would be shocked if they don't win
2) Blazers- the up and coming team, they were a feel good story last year, this year, I would be shocked if they don't make the playoffs, they are a good young team.
3) Enver- Cause they don't play any D, so they don't get the D in their name. I know, old joke, but it's true. Again they will score, and not stop anyone, and lose a lot of games 125-120
4) OK Thunder- They will be bad, and Durant will score
5) T-Wolves- They will be bad, and Al Jefferson will score

Southwest:

1) Spurs- they will just have enough to fight off NO for the 2 seed.
2) Horents- they still have to prove that last year was no fluke, and I think they can. CP3 MVP of the leauge.
3) Rockets- I like them this year, to finially win a first round series. It is stupid of me to predict that, but I am going against history, it is time. Of course Yao's injury could be a problem, Tmac should be hurt by mid December, and they could miss the playoffs
4) Mavs- I really don't like them this year, and I hope they don't make the playoffs. They really just have Dirk and Josh Howard left. That Kidd trade was bad, and it will cost them.
5) Memphis- They will still be bad, but should be at least a fun team to watch. Warrick, and Conley Jr, plus my boy Rudy Gay, and I think OJ Mayo will be Rookie of the year, because he will put up some numbers, but they will not win a lot of games.

well there you have it. I would love to hear what people think about it. I might do a little college preview sometime soon, I just wanted to get the NBA one out of the way. The season is almost here, can't wait. I'm right, you're wrong.

NFL week 7 wrap up

another tough week, I went 7-7, making my year record 62-41. Not bad, but not too good either. Lets see what we learned this week:

- KC is really bad

-The Lions are really really bad

-The Rams made the right move firing their coach when they did, or, Haslet should have been their coach all along

-The Bengals and Lions both might not win a game this year

- My Giants now have to actually start their season, after their preseason is done, and at 5-1 that isn't too bad, but here comes real teams, up first the Steelers

-The Titans are a good old fashion hard nose team, and if you love defense and running the ball to control the clock, you are a Titans fan.. Oh, and Lendal White breaking a 80 yard run, yeah back to the KC really bad thing.

-The Cowboys make me laugh.. I am so happy

-The Pats will be fine, like I said, and I still think they will win the east, they still have the Bills twice, and everyone else once, they do go to the Dolphins, but get the jets at home

-The Jets are so overatted

-I love the NFL because:
1) There really are no great teams, just a lot of good ones, so
a) from week to week it changes
b) almost any team can beat any other
2) It is just fun to watch, there are always great games
3) You got to love football

-Who saw the Viks/Bears offensive shoot out coming, yeah I know there was some special team touchdowns, but still 48-41, I thought that was going to be a 17-10 game.

Well my week 8 picks will be Thursday, tomorrow, my NBA playoff picks, and just general basketball talk. My favorite sport is here. College practices started Saturday and my high school kids begin in less then a month, and the NBA's first game is less then 10 days away. That is what I care about. Baseball is over until the world baseball classic as far as I am concerned. I'm right, you're wrong.

college football week 8 wrap up

I am not sure if I can get up to ten things.. so lets just talk about some:

- MSU-OSU- good to see the old Spartans back. Just when people start giving them credit, that they are a good team and OSU isn't playing good, and people pick MSU to win at home they come out and get killed, I mean, it wasn't even close. Setting up a big game at OSU on Saturday for basically the big ten title between OSU and PSU, after PSU gave uofm a lead, up at one point 17-7, and then Michigan didn't score again, and got rolled.

-Texas-Mizzu-wow, Texas is looking good, now they still have a few more tough games left, but I thought the Mizzu game was going to be and they rolled, watch out.

-BYU bye bye- well that is one down for the BCS to worry about, now they just need Utah, BSU, and really now Tulsa as well to lose

-USC-WSU- I mean of course wsu is really really bad, but 69-0, wow, and USC is 5th in the first BCS ranking, showing once again, it is better to lose early then lose late.

-SEC step up- Who is going to be the SEC team to step up and take over, Bama is the lone undefeated, but FL and UGA are still right there, we will see who makes the run at the right time,

-CMU-WMU- for the 3rd year in a row my chippewas beat the hated bronc hoes, in a game that defensive coaches for both teams would not want to watch tape of, but we got the stops when we needed to, and our backup qb, and my friend, Brain Brunner started for the first time in over two years, and played the entire game and played great, as we won 38-28. We just need to keep taking care of business, we have 3 road games before our next, and final home game, and if we can beat Toledo, and NIU, with IU thrown in their, which we can beat Indiana but I don't care that much as long as we win those other two mac games, that would set up a home game against Ball State on epsn2 on a Wednesday night, which would be for the MAC west title and be the biggest game in K/s stadium in a long time, if not ever. But first things first, we got to beat the rockets.

As far as baseball goes, I am now 0-6 in my series picks, and even though the rays are a great story, I just don't care, I don't know why, but I don't. I will not watch one pitch of the world series, I just could care less. I am happy that college basketball is back, as practice officially started Saturday, and the NBA is about a week and a half away, which reminds me, I think on Wednesday I will do my NBA picks for the year, I might also do a quick college preview. I'm right, you're wrong.

NFL week 7 picks

Yes it is that time again, time for my NFL picks. I did a little better last week, and went 9-5, which brought my year total to 55-34. So here we go, with week 7 in the NFL.

Byes: ARZ, ATL, PHI, JAGS

NO at Car- I like the Saints here, this is a big division game, and maybe the Panthers are the smarter pick since it is a home game, but I like the Saints to win 31-24

Min at Chi- Another big division game this one in the NFC North, I should pick the Bears, they are at home, and their defense is playing well. For some reason, however, I will stick with my preseason pick and pick the Viks to win 21-17

Dal at STL- It doesn't matter if Homo, Brad Johnson, or Danny White start at qb, a good high school qb could put up numbers against the Rams with the weapons the cowboys have. And now they have Roy Williams as well, Dallas wins 35-10

Det at Hou- Might be one of the best chances the Lions have of getting a win this year, but I don't think it will happen. I like the Texans to win the home game and the Lions terrible season to continue 28-17

Ind at GB- The Colts offense looked like themselves last week, and even with Addaui out, I think they are back. Colts win 28-21

Sf at NYG- Again my Gaints have a easy early schedule this is a must win with some of the tough games coming up, and a really nice rebound game after Monday night. Giants win 28-10

Sea at TB- I did pick the Seahawks in my preseason picks but I didn't think they would be this bad, and the bucs be good, so I will change my mind and go with the team that is actually playing like a NFL team right now. Bucs win 24-7

Cle at Was- The Browns looked like the team a lot of people thought they would be on Monday night, and the Skins looked really really bad, and lost to the Rams, so, you may like the Browns to come in and beat the Skins and keep turning around their season. Nope, the Skins bounce back and win 21-17

Bal at Mia- I actually picked the Dolphins to win this game in my preseason picks, and I am going to stick with it. The Ravens D had been playing good till they got killed last week by the Colts and the Dolphins are playing a lot better this year, and it is at home. Mia wins 24-10

SD at Buf- Big game, I like the Chargers to win this, but I would not be shocked at all if they come out and lay a egg and get killed, but I will go with the SD Super Chargers to win 31-24

Pit at Cin- The Steelers are coming off a bye and the Bengals are starting a qb from Harvard, do I really need to go on. Steelers win 28-7

Den at NE- Monday night game, for some reason, I think the Pats will win this game, I am not really sure why, but maybe even Matt Cassel can throw on the bronco d and they can win a shoot out at home on Monday night, and Randy Moss can actually help my fantasy team instead of being the only down part, last week. Pats win 38-35

Ten at KC- If KC wins the NFL official makes no sense. Titans win 28-10

NYJ at Oak- The Jets will win this game, or again, the NFL makes no sense. Jets 31-10

Hopefully it will be a good week. The Lions got a great trade for a guy who doesn't want to be there, now the question is, how will they mess up those extra picks, KC should have traded Tony G, Grand ma ma, and anyone else they could get anything for, you are rebuilding, that is clear, get the picks for guys past their prime, it just makes sense. I'm right, you're wrong.

week 7 college wrap up

I did not do this yesterday because I did not feel good, so here we go, my top ten things from this Saturday, and as always my chippewas get number one:

10) wis-psu- Wow Wisconsin losses three games in a row, two at home, and both at night, they are in some trouble. PSU looks really good, and my pick to win the big ten

9) LSU-FL- The Gators look to be back in a big way don't they, and they have moved all the way up to 5 in the polls. If they win out they will be back in the title game, LSU showed they have some big holes on that team.

8) OK State-Mizzu- I'm a man, I'm 40, wow, great win for coach g and the cowboys, mizzu didn't look good, and at home to boot, now they go to Texas, that will be a tough game, they can win, and you know what, I will pick the upset, 38-35 in a shoot out.

7) Uofm-Toledo- hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah, wow, lol, that is great. I mean to me this may even be worse then the app state loss, and here is why, app state at least was a good program, they are use to competing for and winning national titles, sure 1aa, but still. Toledo isn't even a good MAC school, they just lost 31-0 the week before to BSU, who yes is ranked, but still there only win so far was to Eastern Michigan, this is a really really bad loss for big blue and I am sure it is not a good time to be rich rod right now.

6) MSU-Northwestern- just like Vandy the "smart schools" that were undefeated lost this week. MSU looked good, beating them by 17 on the road to set up a big game this Saturday on the Banks of the red cedar vs Ohio State. OSU offense has not looked good, I mean only scoring 16 at home against a terrible Purdue defense, with no offensive touchdowns, wow. Their defense has been looking great, so we will see if it is a slug feast and the OSU D does enough or will Ringer and the boys have enough to score on them. I want nothing more then a MSU win, and since it is in East Lansing there is a chance, but I just don't know if they are there yet. The OSU D will stop Ringer, make Hoyer beat them, and he will not be able to.

5) USC-ASU- 28-0, USC will be fine, they will run the table and will be back in the national title picture because the SEC and Big 12 teams will beat up each other,

4) BYU- continues to roll towards their date at Utah on Nov 22

3) Bama- should be the number one team in the nation. that's all.

2) Ok-Texas- In a shoot out the Longhorns win, wow, what a game. OK just has no running game and that came back to hurt them, and they didn't stop the run either, that is a bad combination. Like I said before I like Mizzu to upset Texas, and with their schedule OK will run the table, so they might be right back in the Big 12 title game

1) CMU-Temple- Homecoming in beautiful Mt Pleasant, Michigan, it actually was Saturday temps in the mid 70's, and Temple was coming in with a defense that gave up 7 points to western and only 6 regulations points to Uconn, but the CMU offense is much better, scoring 24, in route to a 24-14 win. Even with MAC player of the year Dan Lefevour getting hurt before halftime, backup qb, and more importantly personal friend of mine who gets me free tickets, Brain Brunner came in and managed the game and threw a TD pass to Bryan Anderson and our defense actually played well to hold Temple to zero second half points for the ten point win. Setting up the BIG game this week vs the hated bronc hoes from that school in ugly kzoo. They had a great comeback vs Buffalo to stay undefeated in the MAC as well, so this is a very very big game. The Central-western game is always big, but major MAC west title implications are on the line this year. GO CENTRAL BEAT WESTERN.. I'm right, you're wrong.

NFL week 6 wrap up

Well a little better week this week then last week going 9-5. But lets talk about some things:

-The Eli Face is back- It has been awhile but the classic Eli "what the hell is happening" face returned last night, now, first, it is one game, and the Browns are talented and were due for a breakout game, and the Giants were on the road, and even as a Giants fan I can admit they beat the Bengals, Seahawks and Rams, teams that now have two wins combined, and then the Redskins in the first game with a new coach and a new system. The Giants are good, but I never thought they were the best team in the NFL. I still think they will make the playoffs, but I predicted 10-6 in the beginning of the year, and that is much more likely to happen then a 14-2, 13-3 type year. They do play the 49ers next, so that better be a win. My biggest problem with the game, besides Eli's 3 picks was going away from the no huddle when you are down and need 2, and then 3 scores, it works well, you move all the way down the field, in no time at all, and then get inside the two and take your time. Why? Using a time out so you don't get a delay of game called against you, when you should be in the hurry up, that should never happen, there is no excuse for that. It is almost like it has been so long since they have trailed by 10 or more, they just didn't know what to do. The reason I like that game happening now, is it will be very easy now for that coaching staff to get those players ready to play again. See you guys are not that good, you have to work harder. I expect them to take it out on the 49ers.

- I would like to personally thanks Dan Orlosski for providing us with my new best play in NFL history. I mean it is one thing to run out of the end zone so your punt isn't blocked, or to not kick it to a dangerous return man when you are up 5 or something with only a few seconds left, but to just not know where you are and not just step up, but run several yards out of the end zone, it isn't like his foot just touched the line or something, he ran clear out of the end zone, and they needed up losing by those two points.. That is classic, only the Lions, and now it is reported they are going to either trade Kinta or just put him on the IR, so I guess they saw enough from Dan that he is ready to go, or Drew Stanton, or Drew Henson, wow what a great group of qb, wow.

-The Cards are looking like they will win the NFC west, the seahawks are much worse then I thought they would be, and the Cards are playing well, and when they get Bolden back they should be even better. Great win for them on Sunday

-The Cowboys are really fighting the injury bug right now, but maybe for them it will help them if they have some tough games, and maybe a 11-5, or 10-6 record and make the playoffs, instead of coasting to a 14-2 or 13-3 having a 1st round bye, and then loose their first game again. Even without Homo you have to think they will have no problem with the Rams, but stranger things have happened, like them beating the Skins on the road this week, then the bucks at home, could and should be a win, and then I hope my Giants beat them in NY.

-It would be nice if something happened before 4pm today for the trading deadline. Tony G deserves to be on a winner, and if KC is rebuilding anyway, which they clearly are, why not get picks for him.

-The NFL is by far the league that makes the least sense and is the hardest to pick games, there is just things that happen that make no sense sometimes.

I'm right, you're wrong.

NFL week 6

well after a tough week going 7-7 last week, lets see if I can do a little better this week, here we go:

byes: Bills, KC, Pitt, Ten

Dal at Ark- I like the cards, and I hate the cowboys, however, I do think Dallas will win this game in somewhat of a shout out, cowboys 35 card 24

Chi at ATL- You know the Bears have looked a lot better then people thought they would look so far, as have the Falcons, and Atlanta has been really good at home, but, I will go with the defense, Bears win 21-10

Car at TB- I am sticking with the bucks, who I did pick to win in my preseason picks, Garcia is starting and I think he wants to show he isn't done, Bucks win the home game 24-17

Det at Min- God the Lions are bad, I mean really bad, if the Viks lose this one, they should automatically be eliminated from playoff contention no matter what they do the rest of the way. Viks win 31-17

GB at Sea- man did the seahawks look bad last week, or course the Packers lost to the falcons at home, both teams need this win, so, I will go with who I think the better team is, Packers win 24-14

Oak at NO- The Saints will not lose this game, they can't, I mean they just can't. all of their losses they had a chance to win, and lost by a combined 10 points. Saints take it out on the Raiders and their new coach 31-10

NYG at Cle- Everyone is waiting for the Browns to look like they did last year, I tried to tell people, read either my fantasy or nfl preview, I said stay away from the Browns. I am a little worried about this game for my Giants just because it is a Monday night road game, but they are the better team and my G-men will win 28-14

Phi at SF- Tough couple weeks for the 49ers, and I don't think it gets better. Even if Westbook doesn't play the Engals are just better, and win this game 24-10

STL at Was- The rams are really really really bad, and since week one, the skins have looked really really good, um, Skins win 31-7

Bal at Ind- The Ravens D is great and Flaco has been doing a nice job managing the game, and the Colts haven't won a home game in the new dome yet, but all of those things change this week. Colts win 28-14

Cin at NYJ- Oh Brett Farve he is so great, I love him, the Jets are a playoff team, they are super bowl contenders, the Bengals are in disarray.. not so fast.. oh yeah, I am calling for it.. my upset pick of the week.. Bengals win 21-17

Jax at Den- I like the Jags I have been riding them, and I am going to keep riding them. Denver's offense is good, their defense not so much. The Jags win a shout out 35-31

Mia at Hou- The Texans gave a game away to the Colts last week, and the Dolphins have actually looked like a football team this year, I like the Texas however, to get that first win, in a good game 28-24

NE at SD- The Pats will be fine, but the Chargers are at home, and they NEED this game. Chargers win 21-17

Real quick since all 4 of my baseball picks lost, I have to re due them... so here we go

Al red sox over reys in 5
NL Dodgers over phils in 6
world series red sox over dodgers in 7

I'm right, you're wrong

Week 5 NFL and week 6 College recap

Talk about a bad week, I went 7-7 to make my season record 46-29. I finally give the Bills some love and pick them to win, and they lose. I know the Viks need a win, but I pick the Saints, and they lose, The Steelers offense looks like a college spread all of a sudden and all they do is throw, and what is up with the Chargers, maybe the Dolphins have a shot in the new look afc east. My Giants looked great, but that may be more about the Seahawks looking really really bad. The skins get a big road win after a big road win, and look really good. I guess you can chalk up week one to a new coach and a new system, they are looking good, and if history tells us anything, the last two times after the Giants won the super bowl, the Skins won the next year, so maybe, it is ment to be. Really this is the great thing about the NFL, almost everyone, besides the Lions and Rams, and maybe KC and Oak, can beat anyone else. The Rams and Lions should change their schedules around and play this year, just so we know who is the worst NFL team of all time. I mean the Raiders front office is a mess just like the Lions, but at least the Raiders are competitive on the field, the Lions just get killed, their offense doesn't move the ball, and their defense doesn't stop anyone. That entire organization needs a big change, and I don't think the Lions will be even average again, until the Ford's either sell the team, or bring someone that they let handle everything football related.

As for college since I didn't do it yesterday. CMU had a bye, so I will not do the top ten, and make them number one, I will just give some thoughts.

-Uofm is taking one big foot forward, beating Wisconsin, followed by a big step back, getting blown out by ILL at home, they still have a lot of work to do
-ND is not good, and UNC will beat them this week.
-MSU keeps finding ways to win, and now our ranked, but they still don't have a big win, and they still have osu, wis, psu, and uofm on the schedule, really they have just won the games that they should, and they play undefeated Northwestern this week
-LSU-FL this week, can't wait should be a great game, I like LSU
-OK-Texas this week, can't wait should be a great game, I like OK
-This is the time the season really kicks off, with big conference match ups all over the place
-OSU-PSU will decide the big ten title, and I really like PSU to win it this year.
-CMU-Temple, for our homecoming, it seems some Temple fans are looking for a big win, and thinking their defense will shout us down, there is no way they hold us to 7 points like they did to western in their 7-3 win. We will score, and we will give up some points to, that is how we do things, CMU 28-17
-Just happy Fall is here, I love fall, and the weather, it is my favorite season.
-Vandy baby, wow, who saw that coming, I am still now sold on them, as a team, just because as great as Auburn's defense is, their offense is that bad, so we will see how vandy does the rest of the year.
-USC will be fine, and they will have no problems against ASU this week

I am sure I am missing some things, so I would love to know other peoples thoughts on both the college and pro football seasons so far. I'm right, you're wrong.

Week 5 NFL Picks

Well here it is, Thursday already, so it is time for my weekly NFL picks, so, without further ado, here we go.

Byes: Cle, NYJ, OAk, and STL

Buf at Arz- I will admit in my preseason picks I had the Cards winning this game, but it looks like they will not have Bolden, and the Bills are much much better then I thought they would be. I know it is in Arizona, but I like Buffalo here to win 28-24

ATL at GB- The Packers get back to their winning ways. Matt Ryan has not played good yet on the road, and that will continue in Green Bay. Packers win 21-10

KC at Car- Big win for KC last week, but I like the Panters, and they are another team who is a lot better then I thought they would be. Panters win 24-10

Chi at Det- This is a typical Lions game to win. They are coming off the bye week, and I think they will find a way to get a win. The Bears have been playing good, but at Ford Field I see the Lions getting one of their few wins this year. Lions win 21-17

Cin at Dal- The Cowboys lost a home game last week, but I don't see them loosing two in a row, plus the Bengals are a mess, and now you got ocho cinco saying he will score a td and kiss the star, classic. Marvin will be out soon, I will now be shocked if he makes it though the year. Dallas win 31-14

Min at No- The Viks are in trouble. I actually did have the Saints winning this one in my preseason picks, and I am sticking with them, at home to win the game. Saints win 28-17

Sea at NYG- Both teams coming off byes, the Seahawks have not looked that good this year, and I for one hope that continues for at least another week. We will see how my G-men play without Plax, but I think they will have enough for a win. Gaints win 24-14

Was at Phi- The skins looked great on the road at Dallas last week, and if they do win and beat the Engels this week that will be a very impressive two week run, with both games being on the road, I just like the Engels in this one. Close hard fought game, Phili wins 17-14

Ne at SF- Coming off the bye week, and a loss, this should be a nice game for the Pats to ease back in to the season. I like the Pats big in this one 31-10

TD at Den- I picked the bucs during my preseason picks, but considering Denver is at home, and just had a really bad loss last week, I think they will be ready to go, and I pick Denver to win 35-24

Ten at Bal- Here are two teams who have both looked very good. It is a home game for the Ravens, and with that defense you never know, but I like the Titans to win this game 17-10 in a great defensive match up, just a good hard noise football game, it would be fitting for their to be snow.

Ind at Hou- The Colts have looked bad, they are coming off a bye week, and have lost two home games, good thing this one is on the road. I like the Colts offense to actually look a little more like the Colts offense. They win 31-21

Pit at Jag- The Jags needs this one, they are at home, and they are starting to play a little better, they need to keep that momentum going. Not to mention the Steelers are close to asking fans to be their running backs, they just have a lot of injuries and I like the Jags here to win 21-10

Sd at Mia- I hope Miami enjoyed the bye week. The Chargers will be ready to go, and their offense will score a lot. Even if Ronnie Brown can run over the shaky at best Charger D, the Charger offense will outscore it's counterpart. SD wins 35-24

Hopefully this week will go well. In baseball the Cubs and Angels especially since they are going on the road for games 3 and 4, MUST win game 2. The Brew Crew need to win today because even with them going home, if they are down 0-2 and can't win with CC pitching they are done. And considering I picked all three of those teams to win their series, and picked the Angels and Cubs in the world series I am rooting for them hard. I'm right, you're wrong.

MLB post season picks

To be fair, here is what I said in March for my baseball picks:
AL:
east: Red Sox red sox over Indians
Central: Tigers tigers over angels
west: Angels tigers over red sox
Wc: Indians

NL:
east: Mets mets over dogers
Central: Cubs cubs over phils
West: Dogers cubs over mets
WC: Phils

world series tigers over cubs

Well my NL wasn't bad, AL, not so much, but who saw the Reys coming, I am still not on their bandwagon, as you will see by my post season picks today, they are:
AL:

Angles Over Red Sox in 4
White Sox over Reys in 4

Angles over White sox in 5

NL:

Cubs over Dogers in 5
Brew crew over Phils in 4

Cubs over brew crew in 6

World series
Angels over Cubs in 6. I would love to pick the Cubs, and I will be cheering for them a lot. But I think the Angels are the better team, and will win, I hope I am wrong.

baseball fever.. catch it. I'm right, you're wrong
