1:19

The Wings played well last night against the Sharks on the road in game one of the western conference finals, and outscored the Sharks 3-1 for the game.... except for that 1:19 frame of the 1st period where the Sharks scored 3 goals, and hung on to win 4-3.

The good things:
1) It was only game one
2) They lost game one at PHX too
3) They responded well and down 3-0, came back to make it a game
4) I think they still know they are the better team

The Bad things:
1) You put the pressure on yourself that you almost have to win game two on Sunday
2) The Wings are 0-2 on Sunday in the playoffs (note: both of those games were afternoon games, this is a Sunday night game... it does make a differences)
3) Your down 1 game to 0.
4) Howard let in some cheap goals though the 5 hole
5) They took some bad penalty's
6) Left guys way too open in the slot

With all that being said, I still see them winning Sunday, then splitting in Detroit before winning games 5 and 6.

Tiger did have a great 3-0 win over the Twins yesterday afternoon to take two of three from them. If D Train can pitch like that all year, 6+ innings of 4 hit shutout work, we will be fine. I'm right, you're wrong.

Well then.... That will work

Game 7 in the NHL playoffs, back and forth, tight one goal games, ending in overtime, one team moves on, one teams season is over, everyone is standing the entire game, tension is high, OR..... Wings come out and totally dominate the game from start to finish and win 6-1. What a statement, I only hope they can keep this going. PHX played hard all series, and played well, until last night, and deserve credit and most of their players earned my respect, but the Wings are too good, and have too much experience. Now the bad news, the Wings have a quick turn around and have to go to San Jose for a game on Thursday against the 1st place Sharks. The good news, the Wings are 3-0-1 on the season against the Sharks. I think even being a little tired the Wings will win Thursday night, then lose game 2, wings games 3,5 and 6 to win the series. Good things the Wings are 4-1 on games on any day but Sunday. Those Sunday afternoon games have been tough, and they are 0-2 in those games. I feel very good about their chances though after last night.

Tigers lost 2-0 to the Twins last night, so it wasn't a totally great day in sports for me. The Tigers will be very frustrating this year I think. They will not be totally bad, but they will not be really good either. They are just good enough to stay in it for the entire season, but not good enough to win the division IMO, of course, I hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am.

As much as I hate the new draft format I am happy with who my Giants got. I feel they addressed some needs and got some guys who can help right away. I didn't think they were going to go with JPP with Morgan still there, plus one of the best, if not the best guards in the draft still there at 15, but I am ok with it. he is an athletic freak and I believe he will be able to rush the QB, and he will have a good year because he will come from the weak side.

The Lions are making good free agent moves, good trades, and drafting the right guys, I don't even know who they are anymore.

Cavs and Celtics moved on last night. They now will be playing each other. It has been nice to see PP start playing like a elite player but the Celtics are too old up front to beat the Cavs, not that the Cavs are young at the center spot, but Lebron will get to the basket at will, if he is smart, and the Cavs will win that series. I will cheer for the Celtics though because KG, Sheed, and Jesus Shuttlesworth are all players I like, and even though I love Shaq, I like no one else on the Cavs.

Kobe and the Lakers decided to show up last night against the Thunder to take a 3-2 lead. The only question, will they do so again in OKC. I say they do and win the series in 6. I'm right, you're wrong.

Pro: The Wings have much more experience

Con: Phx is younger, with fresh legs, and has been playing with more energy

Pro: The Wings haven't lost two in a row in this series yet

Con: The wings haven't played a game 7 on the road since 1991

Pro: The wings have prideful guys who believe they can make another run

Con: Phx doesn't know they are not suppose to win

Pro: Wings have gotten a lot of shots on goal in the last few games

Con: They have had way too many bad turnovers in their own zone.

Pro: Wings know they are going to win

Con: Phx believes they can win

Pro: Jimmy Howard has played very well for the most part in goal

Con: Phx fans wear white shirts to "white out" the area

Game 7 it is

After another weekend of AAU tournaments I am back home to get caught up on the world of sports.

The Wings won in Phx Friday night 4-1 to set up game 6 today at home, where they could clinch, instead they layed a big time egg, and lost 5-2, except not really. They dominated play for most of the game really, and had lots of good chances, PHX got great goal tending and then they took advantage of some stupid plays, bad turnovers and terrible penalty's. I still feel good about Tuesday night's game 7, but winning a game 7 on the road is not easy.

The NFL draft is over and there is lots to talk about, but I will save that for another time. I'm right, you're wrong.

Big Win for the wings.. and my not doing a mock draft

Wings got a big 3-0 win last night to tie their series up at two, making Friday night the new biggest game of the season. I feel good about the way Howard played that the Wings will go in to PHX on Friday night and win, and then come home on Sunday and win the series. Got to love the NHL playoffs.

Tigers have been struggling a lot during their west cost trip, and luckily it will be over soon. It's a tough trip, they need to get those bats going. They are starting to have the same problems as last year, getting hits with runners in scoring position, and runners on first and second no outs, and you don't score any runs. That needs to improve. I still think they will be in the central race all year, but I still am not sold on them winning it.

NFL draft starts tomorrow and I was going to do a mock draft, but then I read the sports guy's mock draft, and he is so right, everyone does one, what the hell do I know, so here is the link to it, if you haven't read it.. it is great

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/100420

For the record I agree 100%, the NFL had a great thing going for their draft, and they are ruining it. Thursday night you have NHL and NBA playoffs, plus baseball games, just a lot to get to. I loved sitting on my couch, ordering pizza and watching the draft, now I will be clicking it back and forth, watching 3 or 4 games at the same time, and then just checking in on the draft. Leave it to NFL to ruin something that was going great. I'm right, you're wrong

Grand Rapids Storm Recap

Grand Rapids Storm Classic

One of the biggest AAU tournaments of the early spring schedule takes place in Grand Rapids, Michigan has hundreds of teams come from all over the mid-west from age groups from 4th grade to 11th. This years tournament once again featured a lot of great players from teams like the King James Shooting Stars, Michigan Mustangs, and the host Grand Rapids Storm just to name a few. In the 17 and under division King James Shooting Stars beat the Host Storm 57-33, the Michigan Mustangs blew out Grady Elite/Hurricanes in the under 16 division 49-33, and in the 15 and under division MBA Select beat the Grand Rapids Storm as well 65-52. That wasn’t MBA selects most remembered performance of the weekend though. That honor goes to their 17 and under team in the quarter finals against King James, where in the second half, down 5, 17-12, they held the ball for over 8 minutes, only to not even get a bucket, and lost 22-14. The 17 and under semis featured four great teams in King James, Mustangs, Storm and the Hurricanes. King James beat the Mustangs by 15, and the Storm won in double Overtime over the Hurricanes as CMU commit Jorddan Myrick hit two free throws with under 7 seconds to go to seal the 4 point victory for the Storm. In the finals the Storm had nothing left to take on the very talented King James team loaded with Division one talent. Here is a look at some of the players who played well at the Storm classic that I was able to see play from the under 17 division.

King James Shooting Stars:

James Prices- 6’10 Lakewood St. Edwards 2011- committed to Louisville- Long post, who has a nice touch and good feet. By far the best post prospect in attendance.

Jakarr Sampson- 6’8 St. Vincent/St. Mary 2011- A top 100 player in the class of 2011 is the real deal. A long athletic wing, who can post, shoot and handle.

Darius Carter- 6’7 Akron Firestone 2011-Showed a lot of athletic ability on getting to the rank and finishing hard. A D1 player IMO.

TJ Buchanan-6’3 Kalamazoo Central 2011l- Holds offers from CMU and Cleveland State right now, but I would bet those will not be his last. He is a great on the ball defender, who can shoot or get to the basket. Attacks the glass hard, and has no problem distributing to the other D1 players on this team. He is a winner.

Richard Johnson-5’9 St. Vincent/St. Mary 2011- Good D1 pg prospect. Showed a nice mid range and a good floater finishing at the basket.

Marcus Crider-6’7 Wayne High 2011-Just another 6’7 athletic wing with loads of D1 potential on King James… I wonder why they won the tournament.

Grand Rapids Storm:

Jorddan Myrick-5’11 West Ottawa 2011- Committed to CMU- Played very well this weekend, he is a good pg, who continues to work on his jump shot, while at the same time running the team and getting a lot of other talented players looks.

Jason Pretzer-6’10 Jenison 2011- Big body who moves very well for his size. He even stepped out and hit a 3, so he does have a nice touch. I believe he will be a D1 player, because he is not a skinny 6’10, he is at least 250.

Ryan Majerle-6’3 Rockford 2011- Committed to Toledo- Has gotten stronger and can still flat out stroke. Very versatile, and will only get better.

John Simons-6’6 Cadillac 2012- Plays down low more then his older brother Ben, but still has a nice shooting touch and can knock down 3s at will if he is open. My guess is he will get taller, and will be more of a 4 in college, did fine playing up from them this weekend.

Michigan Mustangs:

Dwuan Anderson-6’4 Suttons Bay 2011- continued to show his athletic ability and his improved handles. Did well running the pick n roll with Tray McDonald. Has improved his jump shot a little and will continue to work on it.

Devin Ivy-5’7 Ottawa Hills 2011- Quick pg, who runs the team very well, explosive to the basket and took advantage of having Patrick Lucas-Perry being hurt and not here this weekend for him to play more.

Tray McDonald-6’9 Battle Creek Central 2011- Long and skilled d1 post. Had some trouble with Prices in the semis, but showed a lot of potential.

Triple Threat:

Austin Barns-6’6 Waverly 2010-Prefered walk-on CMU- Hasn’t played basketball very long, but is long and has some potential. Played hard this weekend and twice got his own offensive rebound against more talented King James Shooting Stars. He has a decent shot, but does need to get stronger.

Jordan Johnson- 5’10 Dewitt 2011- Lefty who I have seen play well for a few years now, hit a bunch a 3s, as did his teammates, 14 for 21, as they beat the Mustangs Friday night. Not D1 IMO, but a very solid player.

All Michigan:

Rashaun Carroll-6’0 Waverly 2012- sophomore playing up did some good things, has long arms and likes to shoot and get to the basket. Should work on his handles to become more of a 1, because of his size.

Skyelar Moore-6’2 Waverly 2011- Long and lanky, who needs to get stronger, attacks the glass well.

Deion Stegall-5’10 Inkster 2011- Quick PG who likes to get to the rack, strong for his size, and finishes well at the rim.

ACB Bank Hoops:

Kody Chandler-6’1 Schoolcraft 2011- Great shooter, who continues to improve.

Jared Klein- 6’1 Otsego 2011- Very good pg who runs the team well, good shooter.

Basketball Workshop:

Darren Washington-6’9 AA Gabrielle Richard 2011- Big body, with good feet who post well, has good hands, and showed good patience catching and finishing. Needed to get more touches when he had his guy seeled off behind him.

Games of the weekend:

ACB Bank Hoops vs. Triple Threat Under-17-69-68 double OT- Triple Threat won on a free throw, double OT for sudden death. A great game, with some good players playing hard on both teams.

King James Shooting Stars vs. Grand Rapids Storm Under-17-64-60 OT- A finals preview on Saturday afternoon was much closer then their Sunday afternoon final, with the teams worn down a little. Ryan Majerle was hitting lights out and it was a great back and forth game all the way though.

Triple Threat vs. Mustangs Under-17-74-70- Triple Threat went 14-21 from the 3 point line during this Friday night upset. Triple Threat is a good program that has guys on their team that are use to winning, but they do not have the individual talent that the Mustangs have, even with them missing Hinton and Lucas-Perry, among others.

Mustangs vs. All Michigan Under-17- 67-65- In the quarter finals All Michigan played hard and their guards got to the basket and finished tough over the Mustangs length. Dwuan Anderson had a nice block that was called a foul, but the FT was missed by Tre Tigner, 6’7 post from Detroit Consortium who did have a nice tournament, the Mustangs spilt at the line and a buzzer beater inside of half court was missed by All Michigan.

Busy weekend

You know it is a busy sports day, and weekend, when Sports center doesn't lead with a no hitter. Nope it leads with a 20 inning game, plus NBA and NHL playoffs, and the rest of the baseball schedule, wow.

Wings are down 2-1, I am not worried yet, they just NEED to win game 3 tomorrow, and I believe they can. Devils are also down 2-1, and need to do the same, I want to keep this beard going.

The NFL draft starts Thursday, I better work on that mock draft soon, I guess.. I will put it up Wednesday.

NBA playoffs had some decent games, I am not watching as closely without the Pistons in it, plus I am at AAU tournaments basically every weekend though the end of May, so I will be busy watching basketball.

Just a busy time, lots going on. I plain on writing a little article on my experiences with recruiting from the outside in, I coached a kid, Trey Zeilger who is a top 30 player in the nation, and just choose to stay home and play with his Dad at CMU, instead of Michigan, MSU, Duke, UCLA and ASU, among others. I love spring, so much sports going on, it's a great time of year. I'm right, you're wrong

Beard is back... NHL and NBA playoff picks

The NHL playoffs started last night, which means it's time for playoff beards. I started by shaving my face, including my goatee, for the first time in a few years, so my playoff beard can now grow, and hopefully continue to grow, with the Wings, and the Devils, both making long runs.

Both lost one goal games last night, but for the Wings I don't feel too worried. Their PK will not be that bad all series, and they will regroup, win tomorrow and the series in 6. The Devils loosing at home is more of a concern, especially to the Flyers who are playing very good right now. Game 2 is a must win for them, and I still like them to find a way to win in 7.

The NBA playoffs are also set and will be starting soon:

East:

Cavs over Bulls in 5
Magic over bobcats in 5
hawks over bucks in 5
celtics over heat in 7

Cavs over Celtics in 5
Hawks over Magic in 7

Cavs over Hawks in 6

West:

Lakers over Thunder in 5
Spurs over Mavs in 6
Suns over Blazers in 5
Denver over Jazz in 7- Series of the round by far.

Lakers over Suns in 6
Denver over Spurs in 6

Lakers over Denver in 6

Lakers over Cavs in 6.
Finals MVP: Kobe

NHL:

East:

Caps over Canadians in 5
Devils over Flyersa in 7
Bostons over Buffalo in 6
Pens over Sens in 6

Caps over Pens in 7
Devils over Bostons in 6

Caps over Devils in 6- I really want to pick the Devils, I just can't.

West:

Avs over the Sharks in 6
Blackhawks over NSH in 5
Kings over Van in 7
Wings over PHX in 6

Wings over Avs in 5
Blackhawks over Kings in 6

Wings over Blackhawks in 6

Wings over the Caps in 6.

I'm right, you're wrong.

So much to get to

I have so many thing I should talk about, I will forget some, but I will try to hit as many as I can.

Mcnab being traded didn't really surprised many people, but I am shocked, SHOCKED, they traded him to the skins.. in your own division, really? The Skins had some talent, they just needed a qb, now they have one, plus he has motivation to show the eagles made a big mistake and that he is still a very good qb in the NFL, and they play each other twice a year.. this is going to be great.

Jets are really looking to make a run this year, I guess, they first get a hall of fame RB in LDT, again a guy who is hungry to prove he still has it, then you get S Holmes from Pitt, who is suspended for the first 4 games, but Edwards and Holms, that has the potential of two big time targets for the Jets, which only helps a young qb, look even better.

Draft is coming next weekend, I really need to find time to get working on my mock draft

Tigers have started off great, though they lost today, 10-5 to KC, in a ugly game, they are still 5-2, and won yesterday 9-8 over the tribe to finish that sweep off, when they were down 5-0 after one, and 8-3 in the 7th. For the most part, I like what I have seen so far. The way Mags is playing watch out, cause you know Cabera is going to hit, so if Mags keeps this up, the Tigers will have a very good year.

Congrats to Phil for a nice Masters win, but all the talk about Tiger not doing well, or this and that, he finished 4th, when he has been going through all this stuff, and hasn't played a tournament in a half a year. What does that say about the tour? He comes back from a long lay off where he slept with every stripper he could, his wife attacked his car with a 9 iron, he went to rehab, all this attention, all these negative things are said about him, he doesn't play at all, and then shows up to the masters and was in it really until half way through the final round, and still finished 4th. If it was just a normal tournament, they would say, 4th, that isn't bad, but with Tiger, no matter what happens people are still surprised he didn't win... and even with playing bad, he got 4th.. wow, the rest of the PGA is in big trouble, especially since the next two majors are also at two of his favorite courses. Every golfer should be happy he is back, so people start watching again. To me, it's still golf, fun to play, but not really that much fun to watch, sorry, it just isn't.

Big Ben will not have charged filed against him... however, I think he still should get something from the NFL, and I think he will, and I think he needs to be a lot smarter, stop putting yourself in this positions, where things like this can happen. I am sure there are lots of girls that want to have sex with you, stop being a D-Bag, thanks.

The hockey playoff are set, and the Wings start Wednesday night at Phx. I like how a few weeks ago, there was talk they would not get in, and now, they have the 5 seed. I see them winning this series in 6, winning games 1, 3, 4 and 6, and then they will move on to continue their run. I am hoping for a Wings-Blackhawks western conference finals, and I think it will happen, that should be a great series. The Wings have just as good a chance as anyone to come out of the west, and I think they will. That means on Wednesday before the game, I will be shaving my goatee, and head, and growing my playoff bread. Go Wings.... I also hope my original hometown team, the Devils do well in the east. I want one last run for Martie, and feel they have a good chance to at least get to the eastern conference finals... playoff hockey..... it is so damn good... if you don't watch, you should

The Pistons play the Raptors tonight as their season is almost over, thank god. I actually want them to lose for two reasons, one, they could get a better draft pick, and two, if the Bulls win and Raptors lose then the Bulls make the playoffs, I don't really want that to happen, because too many people I know like the Bulls, and then I will never here the end of it... or at least until next season. But I refuse to cheer against my teams, so I will still be cheering for the Pistons tonight, I just will not mind if they lose.

Great time of year, NHL and NBA playoffs about to start, baseball is underway, and the NFL draft is right around the corner.... I love spring. I'm right, you're wrong.

What a game!!! WOW!!!!

The last college basketball game of the year was also the best. That doesn't happen a lot. In a tournament where there were a lot of great games Duke and Butler saved the best for last. Two good teams, two great coaches, one who is one of the all time greats, and the other a young and up and coming coach, who has to be the hottest coach in the nation, as far as other jobs. He looks 15, and he is only 33, and this is his 3 year of coaching Butler, and coaching them at a high level. They are not some mid major feel good story, they are a very good team, with good players. A school that cares about basketball in a state that lives and dies for it. They did not get a great game from Mack, and Haywood, and even with Howard in foul trouble they still had a chance. A very good chance. I thought that shot was in when it left his hand, he got a great look. We were literally inches away from having the national title won on a bank in buzzer beater from half court... wow. How can anyone not love college basketball? really? I want to know. If you don't like college basketball, tell me why. Such a great tournament and a great game.

Congrats to Butler for a wonderful year, and tournament, you have nothing to be sorry about.

Congrats to Duke, and Coach K and ast Coach Craig James, who I got to meet both of them this year, due to Trey Zeigler, and they both were very nice and very cool to talk to. I will always be thankful to Coach K for signing my book. You can tell why he was won 4 national titles and been to 12 or 13 final fours. He does things the right way. He is respectful to everyone he meets and is not just a great coach, but a great person.

Baseball also started for most teams yesterday with a good game, and a bad game for me. The Cubs, my Nl team, started off good, up 3-0 in the top of the 1st, only to give up 6 in the bottom of the 1st on their way to a really bad lose. 13-5 or something like that, it was bad. The Tigers were down 4-2 when they got Zach G out of the game for KC, and ended up having a 6th run 7th inning and won 6-4. Great first game of the year, Joel Zumaya looked good, and got the win, a very positive sign for the Tigers. I really feel they will be in the race all year with the White Sox, who rolled over the Tribe, and the Twins. Should be a run summer.

Pistons only have a few more games left this year, thank god. A year to quickly forget, and move forward from.

Wings have clinched a playoff spot for a all pro sport record 17 years in a row now. No matter what seed they get, 4-6, they will be a tough out. It's almost playoff bread time... I think I will actually participate this year.. why not. I will save off my goatee right before the playoffs start, and then not shave until the Wings are out of it. I also hope the Devils, I was born in New Jersey, will have a great run in the east.

Tigers Woods talked about at the Masters.. big deal, just play golf... that's all I care about. What he does outside the game is up to him, and his family, I don't care.

Lots going on, it's a great time of year. UCONN-Stanford tonight for the ladies college championship. UCONN will win, but I think Stanford can hang around and only lose by 15 or so. I'm right, you're wrong.

One of the best days of the year

Opening day and the national title game, if this isn't the best sports day of the year, it is right up there, that is for sure. You also have the NHL and NBA season winding down so games actually matter now for playoff reasons.

Final Four:

Butler shoots 24% from the field in the second half, Howard is in foul trouble, Mack was cramping and barley played the second half, sounds like MSU won by double digits.

MSU has Morgan, Roe, Green, and Allen in foul trouble. They throw the ball all over the gym, and have 7 team fouls before the under 12 of the second half, sounds like Butler won by double digits.

Instead it was Butler by 2, in yet another great, close game by MSU in the tournament. Even without Lucas, and Allen and Roe hurt, and all the foul trouble, and all the turnovers, and missing free throws, and lay ups, MSU still had the ball down one with 23 seconds to go. I thought they would win it. I would take Izzo in that spot any day of the week, and I still would. I think they could have gotten a little better look, and maybe Green was fouled, maybe not, but the bottom line is, they missed way too many free throws, lay ups and had way too many turnovers to win that game. Butler is a good team, and Haywood is a great player, and it was a great game. MSU had a great season, and made a great run, and should be even better next year, which is scary, but with Morgan being really the only SR who does anything, and a top 5 class coming in with 3 top 100 guys, you got to like their chances to be in the big ten title and final four hunt again next year.

Duke had too much for WVU, already playing without their starting PG, and then their best player tears his ACL in the second half, be it they were already down like 12 or 13 at the time, but still. I don't see Duke loosing, they have those 3 SRs and Coach K, that will be enough. But I wouldn't be shocked if Butler would win, nothing shocks me anymore in this tournament. Butler is good, and the crowd will be rocking, but I don't see it. I will be cheering for Butler, but I think Duke will win.

The Tigers and Cubs, my AL and NL teams, both play at 4pm which gives me a chance to do my opening day tradition of watching Major League before the first game I watch each year. I know the Yanks and Sox played last night, and I did watch a little of that, but today is the real start to the season. I am looking forward to a good year, I like my 4 fantasy baseball teams to compete all year, and I think the Tigers will be in it all year, and I think the Cubs could be in the wild card race all year, as well. That's the best part of this time of year, everyone has a chance, well unless you are a pirate, kc, blue jay, Nats, or O's fan. I'm right, you're wrong.

Play ball

No more putting it off, the Yanks and the Sox start the 2010 baseball season tonight, so I can not wait any longer to put my picks up for the year. I hope to once again get together with friend and former roommate Rob Potter to do another "put it on the board" predictions for this baseball season as well. But here are my AL and NL picks:

AL:

East: Yanks
Central: White Sox
West: Angles
WC: Red Sox

Yanks over White Sox
Angles over Red Sox

Yanks over Angles

boring I know, but they are still the best team. I think the White Sox will be good this year and win the central, with the Twins and Tights both in it till the end. I have heard a lot of people talk up Seattle, but I still think the west belongs to the Angles.

AL CY Young: CC
AL MVP: A-rod

NL:

East: Phili
Central: Cards
West: LAD
WC: Cubs

Phili over Cubs
Cards over LAD

Phil over Cards

Yes it will be a re-match, baseball is easy to predict in that way, IMO, the good teams are still good, and the bad teams are still bad. I think the Reds will be a surprise team in the NL and be much better then last year, but they are at least one year, if not two, away from making the playoffs.

NL Cy young: R Halliday
NL MVP: Albert.. who else.

World Series: Phili over Yanks in 6. Roy will be the differences, pitching games 1 and 4... then coming back on short rest, due to a snow out, to pitch game 6 and win it, as well.

World series MVP: R Halliday.

The baseball season is here.. lets play ball. I'm right, you're wrong.

It's almost time

Tomorrow the final four gets underway and all the talk and hype can stop. I am very much looking forward to both games, and I think both games will be very good.

Butler-MSU- The first game of the night, with a 6:07 tip will feature Butler, the hometown favorite, from 6 miles away, and MSU, in it's second straight final four, and 6th in 12 years under Coach Izzo. There is no question the place will be packed and they will be a lot of Butler fans, but don't be shocked to see a lot of green there as well. Indy is still only about 4-5 hrs away from Lansing, and I expect a lot of people to be rocking their green and white. Butler will have the most fans of the four teams, but I think MSU will be second. I think MSU will wear down Butler, especially inside. If Howard gets in foul trouble, look out. Butler is not some feel good Cinderella, they are a very good team, but they do not have a lot of inside guys, and MSU with Nix, Roe, Morgan, Green, plus Sherman and those guys, have lots of bodies to bang down low and rebound. I think both teams will want a slower game, and I think this game will be played in the 60's. I like Brad Stevens I think he is a good coach, but I will take Izzo in this match up all day. MSU wins 67-60.

Duke-WVU- I can't believe the two teams that I picked to come out of the bracket on this side actually did and are playing each other. I picked Duke to win the game before the tournament, and with WVU's starting pg still hurt, and very unlikely he will play, I am sticking with them. Two great coaches, and two good teams, but again I will take Coach K over huggy bear any day of the week. Not that he is a bad coach, but Coach K is one of the best all time, and hasn't been back to a final four in awhile, 2004, and I don't think he plains on being one and done. Duke wins 75-68.

There was a lot of good dunks in the college dunk contest last night, I saw some sweet things, that I have never seen before. The bad part about it was they used all their good dunks up and then in the later rounds, guys missed dunks, and basically you won by just making a dunk, but it was still about 1,500,000 times better then the NBA dunk contest this year.

Opening day is right around the corner so I really should be talking about baseball, but I have been in such a basketball mode, I haven't done it yet, so I will wait, and do it either tomorrow before the games, or on Sunday. What a great time of year, weather has been great here the last week or so, it's been over 80 the last two days, record highs for Michigan, the Wings are playing very well right now, won again last night, for I believe their 7th win in a row, final four is this weekend, plus baseball opening day, and AAU is underway with our first tournament the 16-18 of April. Then right away that, you have the NFL draft... yes this is my favorite time of year.. not to mention next weekend is the Masters, and I hear this guy named Tiger Woods is going to play in it. I'm right, you're wrong.
