Well with the rosters sent there were some moves going on yesterday. The White sox, now 6 games back basically waved the white flag and got ride of Jim Thome and Jose Contraes. Thome going to the Dogers is interesting, being a NL team, and him basically just being a DH for a few years now, he is just going to be a power hitter off the bench for a pinch hit here and there, unless they have him play first every so often. The Dogers also picked up Jon Garland from the D-backs, showing that they know the Rockies and Giants are not going away and are charging hard. The Rockies got Contraes and the Giants signed Brad Penny. I see the same thing with Smoltz and Cliff Lee happening with Penny. You can't get anyone out in the AL, go to the NL and becoming a dominate pitcher again. To think the Giants could have a rotation of Lincecom, Cain, Sanchez, Zito and Penny, not a bad 5 man rotation for the next few years.
The Tigers finished their 4 game series with TB with a spilt, not bad, but not what we wanted. Now a 3 game series with the Indians at home, which is a must win series. A sweep would be great, but they have to take two of three. The W Sox are drifting away, but the Twins are getting hot, just like they always seem to do around this time, they will be there till the end, no question about it. I have faith that the Tigers can and will hold on, but it will not be easy. It will be a fun couple of weeks, and to make things better, college football starts this week, with the first game Thursday night. What a great time of year. I'm right, you're wrong.
