It's Plex for me... but other then that, it's all about the D

The big news today for me is that Plexico has been suspended for 2 weeks, I am not as mad as I was, when I found out, luckily they are counting this week, the bye week, so that he will only miss one game, vs the seahawks. But a few things, one, don't do this to me guys, come on, everything was going great, and two, plex, I love you, I know you were trying to prove a point, but when you get Tuesday off, don't take Monday off too, thanks, I mean, if it isn't too much to ask, I would really appreciate it.

As far as everyone else in this state, there is only one thing to talk about today. Matt Millen must have finally given up his naked pictures of W.C Ford, and because of that, he could finally be fired. He is by far the worst GM in sports history, and has turned the Lions, who hasn't been good since 57, besides their one nfc title game appearance in 91, to the worst franchise in sports. They still would sell out, their fans wanted to cheer for a winner so bad, and now today those people are happy. They are acting like they just won the super bowl, or how they might act if they ever did, since you see they have never even gotten to one, so we don't really know how they would react. Now sure fire Millen is a great first step, he did a bad job, and that is being nice, 31-84 in 8 years in a game that is ruled in a way so purposely make teams even, the NFL wants everyone to go 8-8, and he gets a team 31-84, nice. But it isn't like their problems are over. Sure Lions fans celebrate today, you deserve it, but just know, you will still suck. You will not have a good team for at least 3 years, and that is with a really good GM. There is a lot of work to be done. The biggest one, Ford selling the team, or letting someone who knows football run it. But enjoy the day, it may be the last day you get to be happy for awhile.

Another story that has not gotten as much love as it would have gotten in the state is Todd Jones announced his retirement today. Now say what you want about him, but I liked todd-o, sure he was known for letting two guys on and no outs in a one run game, but more often then not, he got the save, he just made it a little more fun. He had a solid career, he is not great, but he was good. I can only hope he goes in to TV, because when he and Verlander invaded a fsn broadcast a few spring trainings ago it was the most entertaining inning in baseball history. He is just a funny guy, and I appreciate his work for the Tigers, and that he realized he doesn't have it anymore, thanks for walking away when you did, and thanks for all the roller coaster reliever memories you gave us.

One last thing, it was also announced that Jim Leyland will be back next year. I am happy about that, IF, they announce soon that he will get an extension, if they do not, and he is just back for one last year, and everyone knows it, we will have another year next year, just like this one, because the players will toon him out, knowing he will not be there next year, and they will. The players need to know that he is going to be their manager and they need to listen and play better, or they, not him, will be gone. A lot of people said it was time for a change, and I have gone back and forth on it, and I would not be too sad if it happened, but it needs to be done that he is either gone, or gets an extension, so this team knows who will be their manager and can move forward from the worst season in baseball history, when you look at the payroll and the expectations. If you told me this team would be in last place in the central on September 24, you could have gotten me to bet you anything in the world, that you were crazy, and couldn't be more wrong, the only problem is, you would have been right. And if we lose again tonight, to KC, we will fall two games back of them for last place. Thank god for the Yankees big payroll not making the playoffs to make us feel a little better, but the Tigers are number 3, behind them and the Mets, so that isn't much better. Plus the Yankees were just eliminated officially yesterday, and the Tigers are in last place. The Rays and Twins combined don't have the payroll of the Tigers, in fact, you could take both those teams payrolls and double it, and it wouldn't reach the Yankees, and I bet it wouldn't reach the Tigers either, but I would have to check to be sure... Either way, they have been bad, and the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT in my sports life.
